SŽ-Infrastruktura and our partners have successfully applied for the call for standard project proposals no. 02/2023 of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia programme and launched the T4RAIL IT-SI project for more efficient cross-border rail transport in April. The project will run for two years and will focus on the digitisation of rail communication in the border area between Italy and Slovenia.
T4RAIL IT-SI aims to address one of the common challenges in the Italy-Slovenia border area, which is faced with a lack of integration of national and regional transport systems and poor infrastructure and cross-border mobility solutions, including bottlenecks caused by traffic congestion in the area. The main objective of the project is to promote technological innovation and digitisation processes in the railway sector in the area in order to improve cross-border rail connections between Italy and Slovenia, increase employment opportunities, strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of local businesses and ensure better accessibility for the local population, while reducing the environmental impact of transport and improving cross-border territorial cohesion.
The project gives priority to the creation of cross-border networks and to capitalising on the results of research and development in the cross-border transport sector. It aims to achieve a more efficient sector with a tangible impact on freight and passenger transport at regional, national and international level.
The project involves 8 project partners and 6 associated project partners.
